Inquiry over naked man's death
BBC NEWS | England | West Midlands | Inquiry over naked man's death:
"A coroner has criticised a Dudley church for failing to take in a man who died outside their church from hypothermia.
An inquest heard the naked man died in the churchyard after the congregation refused to let him inside because of his erratic behaviour. "
That ol' Christian spirit again.

Blair gets the third degree over fees
Telegraph | News | Blair gets the third degree over fees:
"The policy was in 'direct contravention' of Labour's manifesto for the 2001 election, which stated: 'We will not introduce 'top-up' fees and have legislated to prevent them.'"
See, he's a liar.
George Galloway put it brilliantly last night on Have I Got News For You. "Tony Blair got a first class education at a first class university free of charge and with a student grant to assist him. Now his going to remove that ladder enabling others to do the same".
I don't see how Labour can make this fee policy tie-in with their aim to have 50% of school leavers go to university.
This is *Labour* FFS! Charging for an education? Even the Tories didn't go that far.
New Labour, a Conservative Party for the 21st century.

People the law forgot
Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | People the law forgot:
"US medics injected him with an unknown drug, against his will. 'I refused and they brought seven or eight people and held me and injected me,' he says. 'I couldn't see down, I couldn't see up. I felt paralysed for one month - this injection, the effect, I couldn't think or do anything. They gave me tranquillising tablets. They just told me: 'Your brain is not working properly.' They were forcing me to take these injections and tablets and I didn't want to do that. Some people were being injected every month.' "

Carr lashes out at Huntley
BBC NEWS | UK | Carr lashes out at Huntley:
"Maxine Carr has cried in the witness box at the Soham trial, saying her ex-boyfriend Ian Huntley made her lie.
'I'm not going to be blamed for what that thing in the box [Mr Huntley] has done to me and those children,' she told the Old Bailey. "
A lot of people have been saying that they expect this to be the mainstay of her defence and I agreed and now it seems to have ahppened. I expect her to use the "he threatened to kill me too" card pretty soon.

Nebraska Atheists
Not only might you be descriminated against *because* of your faith, you could be descrimiated because of your *lack* of it...
"Ok, for 20 dollars, here's the question: Which 'A' is the most messed up country in the world?"
Also, as Tim @ Bloggerheads points out, it hardly signifies a true seperation of State and CHurch when you cannot stand as a politician in 7 states if you are an atheist. I wonder if they let you if you are an Aethist?

Blair tries to quell fees revolt
BBC NEWS | Politics | Blair tries to quell fees revolt:
"Tony Blair and his ministers will try to convince Labour critics over plans for student top-up fees on Wednesday."
Newsnight got this spot on last night:
"Tony Blair is determined to introduce tuition fees, despite telling us that Labour would never introduce them when he wanted our votes".
He is a liar. He cannot be trusted.

It's the Incompetence, Stupid! - A BuzzFlash Editorial:
"Bush's war on terrorism is all image on the surface; and all incompetence, deception and profiteering on the inside. Add to that a heavy scoop of ideological political and religious extremism and you have the so-called Bush war on terrorism."
Oooh, good article. Thanks to Tim for the heads-up.

Blair: No retreat on top-up fees
BBC NEWS | Politics | Blair: No retreat on top-up fees:
"Tony Blair has insisted there will be 'no retreat' over the government's plans for student top-up fees. "
Well, that's 1 million students not voting Labour next time Tony. Keep it up, we'll have you out yet.

Telegraph | News | Revealed: Labour's Big Conversation is a fix
Telegraph | News | Revealed: Labour's Big Conversation is a fix:
"Revealed: Labour's Big Conversation is a fix"
Labour's new initiative to listen to voters, The Big Conversation, appears to be a big con: a Telegraph investigation has revealed that party officials have handpicked contributors - and have then edited out their negative comments.
The Telegraph discovered yesterday, that many of the stories on the website were crafted by Labour officials who interviewed carefully selected individuals known to be broadly sympathetic to Labour - and then cut out any negative comments.
"The people of Britain have placed their trust in us. It is a moving and humbling experience. We will repay that trust".
Tony Blair, 1997.
Wanker.

Newest tattoo trend? Removal
CNN.com - Newest tattoo trend? Removal - Dec. 1, 2003:
Seriously, this is going to be massive over the next 20 years. Look at all the people you knwo with tattoos. Now think how many kids getting tattoos this year will want them removing in 5 or 10 years time. Now multiply that figure by the 300 pounds its gonna cost.
I think this could be the big cosmetic growth industry of the next decade.

It's windy under the sea
The Miami Herald | 11/30/2003 | It's windy under the sea:
"Isn't modern technology amazing? A hundred years ago, if you had told people that some day there would be a giant network of incredibly sophisticated ''thinking machines'' that would allow virtually anybody, virtually anywhere on Earth, to hear a herring cut the cheese, they would have beaten you to death with sticks. And they would have been right."
LOL @ Dave...

US climbdown on steel 'imminent'
BBC NEWS | Business | US climbdown on steel 'imminent':
"US President George W Bush is heading for the steel town of Pittsburgh to raise election funds on Monday ahead of an expected climbdown on steel duties.
The US enacted tariffs on foreign steel in March 2002 to protect the industry at home.
But the duties were ruled illegal by the World Trade Organisation, and the European Union threatened sanctions.
Now, US newspapers report, Mr Bush is ready to ditch the tariffs to avoid a trade war. "
Aaaah, isn't that nice of them. And what about the 12 billion lost due to excessive and illegal tariffs? Well the Labour Party say "we just want to forget about this now and maitain our tremendous working relationship with the US", except the US don't see it as all that tremendous.. do they?
Vote Tory, vote Lib Dem, vote Green, just vote Labour out!
